Blissfield fails in Michigan baseball championship bid
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. Blissfield is no stranger to state baseball championship games, but the Royals aren t accustomed to losing them.
Ten years after its only defeat in a state final, Blissfield, a seven-time champion, ran into some formidable pitching yesterday in losing 4-0 to Shepherd in theDivision 3 title game at Bailey Park s C.O. Brown Stadium.
The Royals (33-12) had rapped out 13 hits in a 10-5 semifinal win over Muskegon Oakridge on Friday, including three singles and four doubles in the opening inning.
But they managed just three hits, two in the final inning, against Blue Jays junior lefty Colton Loomis, who worked five innings to lift his season record to 13-2.
