Eastwood boys edge Otsego for outright SLL crown

TONTOGANY - Eastwood earned the outright Suburban Lakes League boys basketball title with a 57-55 win yesterday over Otsego.

Clay Rolf and Jon Juergens each scored seven points in the fourth quarter to give the Eagles the lead, and Rolf's steal and dunk with 20 seconds left sealed the victory.

Rolf finished with 17 points while Clayton Ruch had 14 and Juergens 12 for Eastwood (14-6, 11-1 SLL).

Matt Weisenborn had 22 points, with 16 of those coming in the second half, while Tony Gerwin had 12 points for the Knights (11-9, 9-3).

GENOA - Matt Bassitt scored 17 points, Jon Lester had 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Richard Wonnell added 11 for the Comets (13-7, 8-4 SLL).

Alex Cordell finished with 16 points and Joe Vancena added 12 for the Flyers (3-17, 1-11).

BLOOMDALE - Elmwood jumped out 22-7 by the end of the first quarter and never looked back.

Adam Tyson had 19 points for the Royals (12-8, 8-4 SLL).

Gage Beaber poured in 24 points for Gibsonburg (7-13, 4-8). Lee Renner had 10.

LAKESIDE - The Green Bears completed an unbeaten run through the Toledo Area Athletic Conference.

Eliot Browarsky had 23 points while Lucas Janowicz added 10 for Ottawa Hills (19-1, 12-0 TAAC).

Hunter Stephens had 21 points to lead the Lakers (10-10, 5-7).

The Irish outscored the visitors 8-4 in overtime to claim the victory. Tony Mays scored 18 points and Ben Dent added 13 for Central Catholic (18-2).

Chauncey Orr had 16 points while brothers Vitto and Xavier Brown added 12 and 11, respectively, for the Bobcats (13-7).

Nigel Hayes scored 20 points and pulled down 11 rebounds, while Kenny Hayes scored 19 and had 10 boards. Dareon Jones added 11 for Whitmer (15-5).

Anthony Henderson topped the Spartans (10-9) with 17 points. DeMond Crisp and Fred Morris each added 11.

Ke-sean Harris scored 22 points, Henry Newson had 15 and Antonio Allen collected 14 for the Indians (11-9).

Robert Davis had 22 to top the Rebels (8-11). Mookie Mustafaa and Justin Neptune added 13 and 10, respectively.

Leroy Alexander scored eight of his 16 points in the overtime period to lift the Blue Devils (15-5). Chester McFadden poured in 32 points for Springfield.

Fulton Lankenau and Jordan Myles each scored 12 for Napoleon (7-13).

PIONEER -- Carter Bayer scored 15 points, and Henry Beausejour and Jared Sturt added 12 for the Hawks (14-6).

The Eagles (8-12) were led by Derick Wyrick with 25 and Jalen Dancer had 12.

HARTVILLE, Ohio - Jordan McCloud and Kenny N'Douba each scored 16 points to lead the Thunder to the school's first-ever Association of Christian Schools International tournament title.

Cody Harris added 15 and Zach Black 13 for Monclova Christian (17-6).

Julius Turner scored 17 and Tony Behan 11 for the Warriors (8-15).

MILAN — Port Clinton's boys basketball team completed the first undefeated regular-season in school history by knocking off Edison 62-37.

Josh Francis led Port Clinton (20-0) with 19 points. Ryan Hicks added 17 points and Allen Tigner 17.

Edison (12-8) was paced by Zack Yovanov's 16 points. Ryan Reber had 12.
