St. Francis 30, Padua Franciscan 24
PADUA — The Knights evened the record at 1-1 as they utilized a punishing ground game to come away with a win in a back-and-forth game on Friday.
St. Francis senior running back Jarrod Jefferson was a one-man wrecking crew, carrying 28 times for 215 yards and touchdowns on runs of 47, 12 and 5 yards.
Knight quarterback Andy Mienert had limited success passing but scored on a fourth-quarter three-yard run that proved to be the game-winner.
Matt McKee of St. Francis sealed the victory with an interception on the final play of the game.
St. Francis totaled 413 yards on the ground and held Padua to 153.
Michael McGowan booted a second-quarter 19-yard field goal for the Knights.
St. John’s 34, Orchard Lake St. Mary 24
ORCHARD LAKE, Mich. — The Titans roared from behind on the road to win their second game.
Down 24-14 with nine minutes left in the third quarter, St. John’s quarterback Brogan Roback went to work, tossing touchdown strikes of 78 yards to Liam Allen and 50 yards to Jordan King. Kent Kern completed the Titan scoring with a 75-yard run.
Roback completed 14 of 20 passes for 303 yards and four touchdowns. King ended the night with three catches for 103 yards and two scores and Dexter Haynes caught a 28-yard TD from Roback.
Kern finished with 15 times for 155 yards.
Whitmer 41, London (Ont.) Lucas 0
Tyler Palka threw for three touchdowns on hitting 7 of 10 passes for 127 yards as the Panthers took a 38-0 halftime lead.
Alonzo Lucas had two touchdowns catches on passes of 12 and 41 yards in his five receptions for 91 yards. Jack Lynch had a 17-yard touchdown on a fumble recovery and Leroy Alexander ran back an interception for 27 yards and another TD. Nigel Hayes took in a 14-yard scoring pass from Palka and Mike Baldwin added a 22-yard field goal.
Whitmer had 169 yards running and 127 passing. QB Tyler Lucas had 91 yards receiving and five receptions.
