Turner scores 30 as Hawks gain outright crown
Maumee Valley 74, Northwood 43
The visiting Hawks won an outright Toledo Area Athletic Conference boys basketball championship Friday night on the strength of 30 points from Julius Turner.
Rick Deichert added 18 — including five 3-pointers — for the Hawks (18-1, 12-1). Jared Sturt scored 14.
Maumee Valley last won a TAAC title in the 2001-02 season.
The Rangers (4-15, 3-10) were led by Tyler Williams with 18.

Toledo Christian 72, Danbury 37
Eric Cellier paced the host Eagles (12-6, 9-4) with 21 points while Cameron Stewart added 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Toledo Christian exploded for 30 points in the second quarter while holding the Lakers to seven.
Dalton Chapman and Caleb Helline each scored 10 points for Danbury (0-18, 0-13).
Gibsonburg 59, Cardinal Stritch 43
Logan Jones scored 18 points and Nate Yarborough 16 for visiting Gibsonburg (15-4, 10-3).
Michael Blazevich led Stritch (8-10, 5-8) with eight points.
Ottawa Hills 53, Emmanuel Christian 21
Lucas Janowicz scored 18 points, Geoffrey Beans had 13, and R.J. Coil 11 for the Green Bears (10-8, 8-5 TAAC) at home.
Ryan Creech led the Warriors (8-11, 5-8) with eight points.
NORTHERN BUCKEYE CONFERENCE: Flyers secure at least share of championship
Lake 56, Fostoria 50
FOSTORIA — Ra’Shad Smith had 19 points while Jared Rettig added 17 as the Flyers gained at least a share of the Northern Buckeye Conference boys basketball championship.
A win Friday over Eastwood would clinch the outright title for Lake (15-4, 11-2 NBC). It is the first title for the Flyers since winning the 1998-99 Suburban Lakes League crown.
The Flyers were 15 of 17 from the free-throw line in the fourth.
Xavier Ragin had 16 points and Brandon Glenn 15 for the Redmen (7-11, 6-7).
Otsego 75, Elmwood 46
TONTOGANY — A.C. Limes poured in 27 points and Ryan Smoyer added 18 for the Knights. Tommy Rodgers had 11 for Otsego (11-7, 8-5).
Zach Foster and Max Szyski each had 10 points for Elmwood (8-10, 5-8).
Genoa 68, Woodmore 58
GENOA — Tyler Pickard scored 23 points and Joey Newland 22 to lead the Comets (6-13, 3-10), who trailed by five points at the half but then outscored the Wildcats 19-4 in the third quarter.
Jon Sandwisch had 19 points, Cody Croll 16, and Donny Bown 11 for the Wildcats (6-12, 3-10).
Eastwood 61, Rossford 60
Jacob Faykosh finished with 33 points for the Eagles (13-5, 10-3), who outscored the host Bulldogs 9-8 in overtime.
Drew Brock had 13 points, Larry Sloan 12, and Manny Durden 10 for the Bulldogs (6-12, 6-7).
THREE RIVERS ATHLETIC CONFERENCE: Loving tallies 27 as Titans top Spartans
St. John’s 72, Lima Senior 56
In a duel between the top two boys basketball scorers in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference, it was Marc Loving of St. John’s who got the upper hand Friday night.
Loving, who came into the game averaging 23.3 points, scored 27 points to lead the host Titans. Tarvis Malone added 25 points for St. John’s (13-5, 10-2 TRAC).
Lima Senior’s Tyler White (21.3 average) was held to 16. Devon Allen had 21 points to lead the Spartans (3-16, 2-11).
The Titans jumped out to a 23-10 lead after the first quarter and led 40-22 at halftime.
Findlay 69, Clay 43
FINDLAY — C.J. Gettys poured in 34 points to lead the Trojans over the Eagles.
Joseph Davidson added 11 points for Findlay (14-5, 9-4).
Ross Achter had 16 points for Clay (5-14, 2-11). Jack Nagy had 11.
Fremont Ross 63, St. Francis 51
FREMONT — Diante Pettiford’s 16 points led the Little Giants (9-9, 5-7). Skylar Reffner added 15 and Jay Carnicom 13.
Cam White and Jameson Sheely each scored 10 for the Knights (1-17, 1-11).
NORTHERN LAKES LEAGUE: Napoleon clinches title; Jackets topple Generals
Napoleon 68, Springfield 27
The visiting Wildcats clinched an outright boys basketball championship in their first season in the Northern Lakes League.
Napoleon (15-3, 12-1 NLL) got 21 points from Jordan Myles and 19 from Jordan Lauf. The Wildcats took a 34-13 lead at the half.
The Blue Devils (4-15, 1-12) were paced by Nate Mackie with 10.
Perrysburg 52, Anthony Wayne 44
The Yellow Jackets won at home with Jake Pfleghaar scoring 15 points and grabbing 15 rebounds.
Scott Milne added 11 points and Bryant Bird had 10 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists for Perrysburg (11-7, 9-4).
Mark Donnal paced the Generals (14-5, 9-4) with 13 points.
The Yellow Jackets made 12 of 19 foul shots to the Generals’ 3 of 7.
Bowling Green 51, Maumee 49
Andrew Herringshaw had 12 points while Tyler Dunn and Evan Gardner each scored 11 for the visiting Bobcats (10-9, 8-5).
Bowling Green rallied from a 39-31 fourth-quarter deficit.
Shawn Flanagan led Maumee (7-11, 5-8) with 25 points, while Jason Wanamaker had 10.
NORTHWEST OHIO ATHLETIC LEAGUE: Hilton hits 24 points as Bulldogs top Locomotives
Swanton 63, Montpelier 44
SWANTON — Travis Hilton led the Bulldogs with 24 points Friday night in Northwest Ohio Athletic League boys basketball.
Swanton (9-9, 2-6 NWOAL) put the game away with a 27-10 advantage in the third quarter. Garrett Michalkiewicz added 12 points.
T.J. Reeder led the Locomotives (3-16, 0-8) with 18 points.
Wauseon 59, Evergreen 33
WAUSEON — An 18-0 first quarter set the tone for the Indians.
Collin Bzovi had 12 points for Wauseon (16-2, 7-1). Tre Henricks and Wade Wooley each scored 10 points, while Wooley had 10 rebounds.
Evergreen (5-13, 2-5) was led by Matt Brighton’s 11 points.
Patrick Henry 65, Delta 57
DELTA — The Patriots (10-8, 5-3) were led with 18 points from Austin Christman, while Kodi Nofzinger added 12, and Kolby Seemann 11.
The Panthers (10-7, 5-3) got 23 from Blake Green. Ryan Callahan and Micah Mohr each tallied 10.
AREA: Blackbirds take BBC title; Holgate wins
Pettisville 41, Stryker 33
STRYKER — David Reyes had 17 points Friday night as the Blackbirds won the Buckeye Border Conference boys basketball championship.
Aaron Bruner added 11 for Pettisville (13-5, 9-0 BBC).
Taylor Brown had 15 for Panthers.
Holgate 41, Tinora 30
Holgate — Ryan Aelker scored 21 points for the Tigers.
Holgate (13-6, 6-1 GMC) capitalized at the free-throw line, making 14 of 20 for the game, including 10 of 16 in the fourth quarter.
Jake Mahnke led the Rams with nine points.
Liberty-Benton 65, Vanlue 53
FINDLAY — Ryan Geise scored 16 points, Rob Rucki had 13, and Adam Cytlak 12 for Liberty-Benton (14-3, 6-1 BVC).
Jonathon Kloepfer had 18 points and Jordan Wisner 10 for Vanlue (16-3, 7-2).
Fayette 52, Hilltop 41
WEST UNITY — Travis Pennington had 18 points to lead the Eagles (12-7, 6-3 BBC) to a win.
Payne Sentle led the Cadets (4-14, 1-8) with 14 points.
Fremont St. Joseph 68, Carey 55
FREMONT — Jordan Fessler scored 17 points, Connor Dudley 14, and Zack Yeckley 12 to lead St. Joseph.
Justin Mees led Carey with 18 points and Brice Orions added 15.
SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN: Mules sweeps past Skyline
Bedford 63, Ann Arbor Skyline 56
ANN ARBOR — The Mules (12-4, 7-2 SEC) used a 22-10 fourth quarter advantage to win Friday night in boys basketball.
Jackson Lamb had 25 points. Ryan Rightnowar had 13. Jeremy Harris tallied nine and had 10 rebounds.
Jordan Woods had 17 and Peter Bakker 10 for the Eagles (9-7, 4-5).

Bedford 54, Ann Arbor Skyline 33
TEMPERANCE — The Mules (12-6, 7-4 SEC) got 10 points from both Cheyanne McCartney and Taylor Foster. Skyline (4-14, 1-10) was led by Zena Shunnar’s eight points.
