Gardeners are invited to enter the fourth annual Gardens Galore contest sponsored by the Toledo Botanical Garden.
Residential, community project, and business gardens can be entered, and awards will be given for a variety of garden types, including water, shade, rose, perennial, annual, style (such as Victorian, Oriental, English), vegetable/herb, children's, and combination.
Gardens will be evaluated on regional appropriateness of plantings, creativity, originality, and general maintenance. Judges will also consider landscape design, use of color, lighting, art, outdoor living spaces, containers, and unusual or rare varieties.
Five photographs of the garden or landscape at its peak and a description of the type of garden are required. Deadline is July 13, and entry fee is $10.
Judges will visit the gardens of finalists Aug. 6-10, and awards will be presented Aug. 26. For information and entry forms, call TBG at 419-936-2986 and check www.toledogarden.org.
