This River Road home offers a beautiful view of the Maumee River. Situated on a quiet, secluded lot, it will be offered at auction later this month. Come and preview it this weekend!
This week's featured home, located on prestigious River Road in Toledo, will be offered at auction by the Beth Rose Auction Company later this month. And a lucky winner will become the owner of a unique property.
Located at 3185 River Road, the property offers so much potential. The lot behind the home stretches nearly an acre down to the Maumee. Put in a dock and have easy access to boating. Plant flowers along the terraced slope and enjoy a beautiful garden. Expand the patio for delightful outdoor entertaining, or invite friends over for a campfire in the chimney located near the river.
The home is a classic. The exterior is wood siding, painted white. A two car garage stretches off to the left; it is attached to the home by a spacious breezeway. The front door opens to a large foyer with a distinctive slate floor. To the right is a large guest closet, and to the left, an office, paneled in dark wood. Built in bookcases and raised panel wood shutters are highlights of this space.
Off the home's center hall is a small powder room and opposite that, the entrance to the kitchen. The galley kitchen is anchored on one end by a generous dinette, where a brass chandelier provides illumination. Ceramic tile countertops and bright yellow painted cabinetry give this space a cheery feel.
A doorway here leads to the basement. The laundry room is on this level, with a convenient clothes chute from the upper clothes. A second set of stairs leads to the outdoors.
A door at the far end of the kitchen leads to the large living room. A bay window to the right has beautiful wood shutters, and is a perfect spot for a dining table or a conversation area.
The focal point of the room is the woodburning fireplace, with its attractive marble surround and slate hearth. Flanking it are large picture windows which offer a view of that amazing lot and the river beyond. A door from the living room leads to the wood-paneled office; another leads to the large breezeway. Light streams into this room, which has walls of windows. A door here opens to the poured concrete patio, where an attached awning provides shelter from the sun. The breezeway and patio would be perfect for summer entertaining.
Just off the living room, a staircase with wrought iron railing rises to the second floor. To the left is a large bathroom. Large tiles on the floor are in shades of pink and green; the tiles on the wall are all in light green and enclose the entire bathroom. A curved makeup table is situated across from the pedestal sink, and a curved shower rod encloses the tub area.
Across the hall is a bedroom which overlooks River Road. This bedroom has a walk-in closet. Two large linen closets are located in the hall.
At the end of the hall, behind impressive double doors, is the master bedroom. A crystal chandelier in the center of the room signifies that this is, indeed, the owners' retreat. Windows look out over the tall trees to the island in the Maumee, where deer often congregate in the evening. The master bedroom boasts two closets and a dressing room.
