So Theresa Gabriel has been elected to the Lucas County Board of Elections (March 31, “Lucas Co. elections shake-up adds Gabriel, drops Kaczala”).
Shame on her and those who appointed her.
At her age, she should retire and spend her time volunteering.

New Kroger will be great for shoppers
Finally, there will be an enlarged Kroger store at Secor Road and Monroe Street.
Granted, traffic will increase somewhat, but in addition to adding 100 jobs, there will be wider aisles and an expanded selection of items.
Regular shoppers in this area may soon have the luxury of a completely stocked Kroger, such as those on Holland-Sylvania Road and Monroe Street at Harroun Road in Sylvania.

Leaders need to accept blame
I am a student of history. I graduated with an intensive major in early American history, British imperialism, and Russian history, and I also taught government for more than 10 years.
Never have I read about any country becoming great under the rule of any ruler who always blamed his problems on someone else instead of rectifying those problems.
Several countries, however, have become dictatorships in that way.

Latta and staff were wonderful
I had a very different experience than the March 31 writer of the letter titled ‘‘Difficult to contact politicians.”
In the summer and early fall of 2015, while planning a trip to Washington, I contacted Rep. Bob Latta’s office. When I called, I was expecting an answering machine, but to my surprise, a real person answered the telephone.
I called and emailed on several more occasions, and each time the calls were answered by a very courteous and helpful person. All my emails had replies within 24 hours.
With the help of Mr. Latta and his outstanding staff, we received a personal tour of the Capitol by one of his staff members and were given tickets to tour the White House.
I commend Mr. Latta and his staff for their dedication to their constituents and the personal attention they gave us.
