Collect all of the money for tickets
When are we going to have city council and the mayor take the reins and collect the millions of dollars due from speeding and red-light cameras? With the millions of dollars owed to the city, most all of the projects can be done.
If someone has a ticket and does not pay within 60 days, they should receive a letter stating that they will not be allowed to renew their driver’s license nor their auto registration. It would also not allow them to purchase a vehicle because of outstanding tickets. This may seem harsh but other states do it, and it is time we did it also.
This money is owed to the city and must be paid. If the ticket holders want to fight it in court, then do so. Do not let them just sit back and get away with it. The same goes for all the smoking ban fines.
So, who is to blame for all of this money not being collected? The city officials. They would rather complain about not having enough money for police and fire classes than to actually go out and collect the money owed and get more classes started. It is time we elected people to council and as mayor that will get things done and done in a timely manner.

Republicans are an embarrassment
I am 90 years old and have plenty of time to read my newspaper and watch TV news — NBC and CNN. I am down on the Republicans for being a bunch of ding-bats. You folks in the Reader’s Forum and The Blade don’t have the courage to bash the Republicans. President Trump, Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, and the goofball in Montana who attacked the journalist all carry the Republican card that they are so proud of.
How in the world can anybody with a little common sense vote for a Republican? It is my belief that some of the top Republicans, from Mr. Trump on down, are going to wind up in prison or be deported to Russia.
