“Mexico is gonna pay for it,” Donald Trump promised about the border wall. I believe we were deceived. All signs point to U.S. taxpayers paying for it. If it is built. That’s just one promise I heard from President Trump.
He promised he would not allow Medicare, Medicaid, or Social Security to be touched. He promised his health-care plan would be so great that everyone would be covered with better and cheaper insurance.
Instead, he had no health plan, and gave House Speaker Paul Ryan (R., Wis.) and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) the health-care plan to devise. For as long as they have been in Washington, both have sought to cut Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security. Their bills both cut Medicaid, and neither provides the great health-care plan Mr. Trump promised. They have used the Affordable Care Act repeal frenzy they created to go after and seriously change and cut Medicaid. I keep my eyes open, because I’m certain they will also go after Social Security and Medicare.
He promised to label China a currency manipulator. Oh well, now he says he won’t.
He promised a tax plan we’d love, huge tax cuts for the middle class and businesses, but the wealthy would see their taxes increased. And the tax plan is being written by Mr. Ryan, who champions a trickle-down approach to taxes. I don’t think the plan will fulfill the promises Mr. Trump made. You can just look at Mr. Ryan’s health-care bill. About $800 billion in tax cuts, almost all to the wealthiest Americans.
Mr. Trump promised to be more presidential — stop right here — I just saw a video tweet of President Trump tackling, choking, and pummeling a news network, CNN. Clearly, “the being more presidential” promise is broken. Guess I’ll wait for The Blade and others to defend that video. I’m disgusted.
