Could it be that what is hurting TARTA is not only their funding sources but also their name and overall image?

If TARTA wants voters to ever approve a new sales tax in Lucas County, a new name should be in order. The Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority began shortly after the Toledo Traction Company ceased to exist, so I’ve been told. It is time for a name change, a logo change, an overall mentality change at TARTA.

It is time to rename the transit service the Lucas County Regional Transit Authority. There also needs to be a rebranding effort to get citizens to see that the new LCRTA will service all of Lucas County with excellent drivers, clean, well-maintained buses, and an attentiveness to staying on schedule.

The Lucas County Regional Transit Authority is the way to go. A new name, a new logo, a new mentality. Then and only then should the citizens of Lucas County approve new funding.
