Two small speakers for bell music are installed on each side of the clock tower at the University of Toledo.
The Nov. 1 editorial, “UT needs a total culture change,” states that the University of Toledo has cheated its students and does not prepare students for the job market after graduation.
When you look at the facts, this argument does not have a solid foundation. Each University of Toledo program strives to put the student’s education first and to get them prepared to be a successful part of the national workforce.
As a doctoral student at the University of Toledo, I feel that I am getting an education I would not be able to find anywhere else. The professors at this university care about my growth as a student and as a professional.
I have no doubt that I am being prepared for the work force when I leave my program, but editorial pieces that insult my university in this manner will make it harder for me when I look for jobs in the future.
We can’t take one mistake and blame the entire university for being just “good enough” or having a culture problem when the university is clearly showing the nation it is a force to be reckoned with in more than one aspect.

Walleye fans not disrespecting flag
It has been a Toledo hockey tradition for more than 20 years to yell “hit somebody” before the last two lines of the anthem (Oct. 30, “Walleye fans should respect flag”).
There’s no disrespect intended. Now, the NFL on the other hand ...
Trump heartless toward widow
When I read of President Trump’s call with pregnant army widow Myeshia Johnson, I felt sickened.
When I was a teen during WWII, my sister came running into the house with her baby and a telegram saying that her young air force husband had been killed. There was no sympathy or counseling. I feel that it marked her for life.
Mrs. Johnson said the President made her “cry even worse.” That is disgraceful.
