Winter hike offered at Van Buren

The Third Annual "Cabin Fever Reliever" Winter Hike is set for Saturday, Feb. 9, at Van Buren State Park. There are two self-guided trails to explore. The Tenderfoot Hike is two miles with fairly even terrain and beautiful views of Van Buren Lake. The Frostbite Frolic Hike is a bit longer, with rolling terrain and views of the Rocky Ford Creek.

Hikers should meet at shelterhouse #3 off of Township Road 229, and hit the marked trails anytime between 10 and 11am. There will be chili cooking in a cast iron pot over the fire when hikers return, along with hot drinks, and a marshmallow roast. Naturalist Natalie Miller's winter tree and wildlife display will also be featured. Participants should wear appropriate winter clothing and footgear. Questions should be directed to Naturalist Natalie Miller at Natalie.Miller@dnr.state.oh.us, or the park office at 419-832-7662.
