No meningitis cases reported from carrier
There have been no reports of bacterial meningitis cases after it was learned that a man who played Santa Claus at Southwyck Shopping Center was an asymptomatic carrier of a bacteria that causes the disease.
The unidentified man was admitted Dec. 21 to St. Luke's Hospital in Maumee.
Dr. David Grossman, Toledo-Lucas County health commissioner, said the Santa continues to do well and did not develop meningitis.
