Planned Parenthood of Northwest Ohio is acknowledging AIDS Awareness Week with a Paint the Town Red Ribbons campaign at area nightclubs.
Through Saturday, educators with the organization will be available to answer questions and will distribute condoms, HIV educational materials, and red ribbons at nightclubs.
The local Planned Parenthood group said HIV continues to be a problem in the community, and one out of four individuals infected with the HIV virus in Lucas County does not know it.
Similar events are being held throughout Ohio to encourage people to protect themselves and have regular tests.
