Man enters not-guilty plea in alleged hostage-taking
ADRIAN - A Battle Creek, Mich., man accused of holding an Adrian man hostage and robbing him pleaded not guilty yesterday to five charges in connection with the September incident.
Anthony DeWayne Brown, 33, remains in the Lenawee County jail under a $125,000 bond and faces a Dec. 19 trial date. Brown was arraigned before Circuit Judge Timothy Pickard on charges of armed robbery, kidnapping, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Brown is accused of breaking into the victim's home and tying the man to a chair in the basement. The man later untied himself and broke a window to escape.
