Authorities rule death of Monroe man a suicide

MONROE - The death of a Monroe man, who was missing for a week before his body was pulled from a quarry, has been ruled a suicide, authorities said.

Donald Lee Noel, 58, died of multiple injuries and drowning, according to the Wayne County medical examiner's office, which performed an autopsy yesterday.

Mr. Noel's body was recovered Friday from the old France Stone Quarry off Dunbar Road, beneath 30 feet of water and strapped in the driver's seat of his pickup truck.
