HILLSDALE - The Hillsdale County sheriff's department announced a neighborhood-watch training program for residents concerned about the safety of their neighborhoods.
Sheriff's department personnel will be volunteering their time to train neighborhood leaders in tips for a safe community. The training will focus on how neighbors can deter criminal activity by simple preventive actions.
The sheriff's department will provide the tools necessary to develop an effective block-watch program with the goal of establishing a network of communication between concerned residents and the police.
Safety tips will be the primary focus during sessions held at the MSU Extension building on Care Drive in Hillsdale. Those interested in attending the sessions should call Undersheriff J.J. Hodshire at the sheriff's department.
