Man charged in assault on Adrian woman

ADRIAN - A Willis, Mich., man was arraigned in Lenawee County District Court yesterday on charges of assault with intent to murder and carrying a weapon with unlawful intent.

Henry Joe Parker, 39, is accused of assaulting his girlfriend at her Village Green apartment in Adrian early Tuesday morning with a crowbar and an ice pick.

District Judge James Sheridan ordered Mr. Parker back to jail under $550,000 cash or surety bond and set a preliminary examination for Jan. 21.

According to Adrian police, Mr. Parker allegedly came at the woman with a crowbar and after she got it away from him, jumped on her and began poking her arm with an ice pick while threatening to kill her.
