TECUMSEH, Mich. — A state lawmaker from Michigan is expanding a fight against out-of-state trash with a yard-sign campaign to call attention to the issue.
State Rep. Doug Spade (D., Adrian) said recently the campaign is designed to pressure fellow lawmakers to stop Canadian and out-of-state waste from filling Michigan landfills.
Mr. Spade has co-sponsored two bills that would allow the state to reject trash from states with regulatory systems less stringent than the rules Michigan imposes.
