ADRIAN Area residents are trying to save the struggling Lenawee County Humane Society by beginning a petition drive seeking financial support from the county s board of commissioners.
A decrease in contributions brought about by a struggling local economy brought the society to the brink of closure last month.
However, recent fund-raising efforts should keep the organization afloat through the end of the year, according to Bonnie Tancredi, executive director. The organization has applied for several grants to help keep it going.
