ANN ARBOR - Devin Gardner accounted for six touchdowns as the Michigan football team defeated Iowa 42-17 today at Michigan Stadium.

Gardner passed for three touchdowns and ran for three touchdowns for the No. 23 Wolverines (8-3, 6-1 Big Ten Conference), who scored on their first six possessions against the Hawkeyes (4-7, 2-5 Big Ten).

Denard Robinson played in his final game at Michigan Stadium, rushing for 98 yards on 13 carries. Robinson rotated between tailback and quarterback, primarily handing off the ball from the quarterback position.

Michigan tailback Fitzgerald Toussaint suffered a left leg injury in the first quarter and had to be taken off the field on a stretcher on a cart, with his left leg stabilized in an air cast. ESPN reported that Toussaint had to be hospitalized at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor as a result of the injury, incurred when Toussaint was pulled down near the Iowa sideline by a pair of defenders.

Michigan closes the regular season at noon Nov. 24 at Ohio State.
