Michigan guard Trey Burke named 1st team AP All-American

ANN ARBOR - Michigan point guard Trey Burke was named today as a first-team Associated Press All-American in men's basketball.

The five-player first team was announced today. Burke is Michigan's first first-team All-American selection since Chris Webber in 1993. Burke, sophomore from Columbus, has averaged 19.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, 6.7 assists and has a 3-point shooting percentage of 401. Burke received 62 first-team votes and 319 points.

Burke joins Georgetown's Otto Porter, Jr., Indiana's Victor Oladipo, Creighton's Doug McDermott and Gonzaga's Kelly Olynyk on the first team.

Ohio State's DeShaun Thomas was a third-team All-American selection, while Aaron Craft was an honorable mention selection.

Michigan (30-7) faces Syracuse in a national championship semifinal at 8:49 p.m. Saturday at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.
