Wells hits 2 homers as Hens beat Bats

LOUISVILLE - Toledo center fielder Casper Wells smacked two home runs and drove in three runs to lead the Mud Hens to a 4-1 win over the Louisville Bats last night.

Designated hitter Jeff Frazier added a solo home run.

Toledo starter Armando Galarraga (2-1) yielded just three hits in seven innings of work.

Frazier's homer and Wells' second dinger both came with two outs in the fourth inning.

Galarraga struck out six and lowered his earned run average to 1.96.

Closer Jay Sborz picked up his fifth save of the season. Sborz struck out two of the three batters he faced in the ninth.

Reliever Josh Rainwater gave up the only run to the Bats, who scored on a passed ball in the eighth inning.

Wells and Frazier hit back-to-back home runs in the fourth. It was the second and third home runs of the season for Wells.

Brennan Boesch and Danny Worth each had two hits for the Hens.

The teams meet again today in Louisville. The Mud Hens return to Toledo tomorrow for a three-game home stand against Columbus.
