Bulls score 3 in fourth to power past Hens

DURHAM, N.C. - The Durham Bulls scored three times in the fourth inning to claim a 5-2 win over the Mud Hens last night.

Durham broke a 1-1 tie with its fourth-inning eruption against Toledo starter Enrique Gonzalez.

Dan Johnson got the rally started with a double, and Ryan Shealy slammed his fifth home run of the season. Chris Richard then singled, and Angel Chavez doubled him home.

The Bulls got a run in the first as Elliott Johnson, Joe Dillon, and Hank Blalock strung together three singles, with Blalock's hit scoring Johnson.

The Hens used three straight two-out singles in the third to get the run back. Max Leon, Danny Worth, and Jeff Larish singled, with Larish's hit scoring Leon.

After Durham's three-run outburst, the two teams traded home runs in the sixth. Jeff Frazier stroked his fourth homer of the year in the top of the inning before Chavez countered with his fourth in the bottom of the frame.

Gonzalez allowed 12 hits in six innings to fall to 1-4 this season. Richard De Los Santos (2-1) got the win for Durham, with Winston Abreu earning his second save.
