Feeble offense for Hens again;drop second straight on road

LOUISVILLE — A two-out, RBI single by Yovan Gonzalez in the seventh inning proved to be the difference as the Mud Hens dropped a 3-2 contest to the Louisville Bats on Friday night.

It was the second straight loss for Toledo in the first two games of a six-game road trip.

Toledo’s offense struggled to get going as the Mud Hens managed only six hits for the second game in a row.

Louisville got on the board when Felix Perez singled home Derrick Robinson in the bottom of the first. Danny Worth tied the game at one when he reached on an error that scored Argenis Diaz in the third inning.

Former Mud Hen Mike Hessman knocked in Henry Rodriguez for an RBI single in the fourth inning to give the Bats a 2-1 advantage.

Danny Dorn scored on a sacrifice fly by Jordan Lennerton in the sixth inning to tie the game again, before Gonzalez broke the deadlock in the seventh.

Diaz led the Mud Hens with two hits, including a double. Dorn and Hernan Perez added doubles for Toledo’s only extra-base hits of the game.

Jon Link pitched six innings of two-run ball for the Mud Hens on his way to a no-decision. Evan Reed (1-3)took the loss after allowing two hits and a run over two innings of relief.
