Handel's `Messiah' dominates schedule

Several performances of Handel's Messiah have been scheduled in Toledo and the region this weekend.

Conductor Samuel Szor will lead soloists Tina Sandor Bunce, Margaret Mack, Richard D. Mathey, and Andreas Poulimenos at 8 p.m. Saturday and 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the Peristyle of the Toledo Museum of Art. Tickets range from $10 to $20 on Saturday; $8 to $15 on Sunday. Information: 872-2940.

The Perrysburg Symphony Orchestra and Perrysburg Symphony Chorale will present a sing-along concert at 8 p.m. Saturday in St. Rose Catholic Church, 215 East Front St., Perrysburg. Tickets are $10 for adults; children 12 and under are free. Information: 874-7596.

The University Musical Society has scheduled performances at 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday in Hill Auditorium, 825 North University Ave., Ann Arbor, Mich. Tickets range from $12 to $20. Information: 734-764-2538 or 800-221-1229.

At Bowling Green State University, the Jazz Lab Band I will perform at 8 tonight in Kobacker Hall of the Moore Musical Arts Center.

Russell Miller will give master classes for pianists and singers from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday and from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the choral rehearsal room.

The BGSU Afro-Caribbean Ensemble will present a Young People's Concert at 11 a.m. Saturday in Bryan Recital Hall. Tickets, $2 for adults and $1 for children, will be available at the door.

BGSU faculty ensembles will present Music for Winds at 8 p.m. Wednesday in Bryan Recital Hall.

The Choraliers will present A Choralier Christmas at 3 p.m. Sunday in Heritage Christian Church, 1640 South Coy Rd. Tickets are $5 in advance and $6 at the door; children under 12 are $3. Information: 836-8192 or 836-1876.

The BGSU Collegiate Chorale and the University of Toledo Concert Chorale will be in concert at 7 p.m. Sunday in Monroe Street United Methodist Church, 3613 Monroe St.

Monday Musicale will feature organist Nancy Russell, flutist Lawrence Boldt, pianists Anne Doerfler and Betty Burke, and the piano duet of Andrea and Luke Bartolomeo. The program will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Epworth Methodist Church, 3077 Valleyview Dr.


Pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard will join conductor Pierre Boulez and the Cleveland Orchestra in a program of music by Stravinsky, Webern, and Ligeti at 8 p.m. today-Saturday and Tuesday in Cleveland's Severance Hall, 11001 Euclid Ave. Tickets range from $26 to $61. Information: 800-686-1141.

Conductor Robert King will lead the Detroit Symphony in a program of music by Bach and Handel at 8 tonight, 10:45 a.m. tomorrow, 8:30 p.m. Saturday, and 3 p.m. Sunday in Detroit's Orchestra Hall, 3711 Woodward Ave. Tickets range from $15 to $71. Information: 313-576-5111.

Adrian's Croswell Opera House will continue its presentation of Cinderella at 8 p.m. today and tomorrow, 3 and 8 p.m. Saturday, and 3 p.m. Sunday.
