New Music Ensemble at BGSU

The New Music Ensemble will perform at 8 tonight in Kobacker Hall of the Moore Musical Arts Center at Bowling Green State University. The event opens the three-day fourth annual Student National Conference of the Society of Composers, Inc.

Also in Kobacker Hall, the BGSU symphonic and concert bands perform at 8 p.m. tomorrow. Additional programs are scheduled for 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday.

The annual Dr. Marjorie Conrad Peatee Art Song Competition begins at 1 p.m. Saturday at BGSU. There will be a formal winners concert at 8 p.m. in Bryan Recital Hall of the Moore center.

Also in Bryan Hall, the woodwind quintet Venti da Camera will perform at 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Violinist Hilary Hahn will join conductor Andrew Massey and the Toledo Symphony in a program of music by Rossini, Mendelssohn, Webern, and Hindemith at 8 p.m. tomorrow and Saturday in the Toledo Museum of Art Peristyle. Tickets range from $15 to $39. Information: 419-246-8000.

Michael Boyd performs music of Mussorgsky, Gershwin, and Mozart at 2 p.m. Sunday in the McMaster Family Center of the Toledo-Lucas County Library, Madison Avenue and Michigan Street.

Pianist Robert Satterlee will perform music of Schumann and Mozart at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Great Gallery of the Toledo Museum of Art.

Mary Manse College Alumni will perform at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Ursuline Center Chapel, 4035 Indian Rd.

The Celtic band Altan will perform at 4 p.m. Sunday in the Valentine Theatre, 400 North Superior St. Tickets range from $17 to $28. Information: 419-246-8000.

MICHIGAN

Conductor Jeff Tyzik will lead the Detroit Symphony in a pops program featuring the music of Cole Porter at 8 tonight, 8:30 p.m. tomorrow and Saturday, and 3 p.m. Sunday in Detroit's Orchestra Hall, 3711 Woodward Ave. Tickets range from $15 to $75. Information: 313-576-5111.
