Philadanco troupe due at Owens

Philadanco, the Philadelphia Dance Company, will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday in Owens Community College's Center for Fine and Performing Arts, 30335 Oregon Rd. Northwood. Tickets are $22 for adults, $20 for seniors and Owens employees, and $12 for students.

Toledo School for the Arts will present its Winter Dance Showcase at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the center. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students and seniors.

Toledo Symphony musicians will present the third concert in their Chamber Series at 7 p.m. Sunday in the Toledo Club, 235 14th St. Tickets range $27 to $38. Information: 419-246-8000.

New York pianist Steve Mayer will perform a free recital at 3 p.m. Sunday in Doermann Theater at the University of Toledo, 2801 West Bancroft St.

Ohio Northern University presents its Winter Band Concert at 8 tonight and the ONU Alumni Jazz Band will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday in Biggs Theatre of the Freed Center for the Performing Arts in Ada. Tickets for each performance are $8 for adults, $7 for seniors and students, $5 for children 12 and under.

The Toledo chapter American Guild of Organist will present "Pedals Pipes and Pizza," a program for students grades 6-12, from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday in in the Organ Studio of the Moore Musical Arts Center at BGSU. Registration is $3. Information: 419-372-2192.

In Bryan Recital Hall, the Student Composers Forum, featuring works by BGSU undergraduate and graduate composition students, will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Russian pianist Yury Shadrin, a student at Oberlin College, will present an all-Chopin recital at 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Terra Community College will celebrate Black History Month with two free concerts. A program of gospel music, with soloist Henri Diane Martin and Tamara Damschroder, is scheduled at 4 p.m. Sunday in Hayes United Memorial Methodist Church, 1441 Fangboner Rd., Fremont. Also performing in the church at 7 p.m. Monday will be Terra's musical ensembles in a concert entitled "Unity!"

MICHIGAN

Contemporary jazz saxophonists Kenny Garret and his quartet will perform at 8 tonight in the Max M. Fisher Music Center, 3711 Woodward Ave, Detroit. Tickets range from $18 to $85.

Also in the Fischer Music Center, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra will present composer Hannibal Lokumbe's tribute to Rosa Parks, the civil rights pioneer, at 8:30 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m Sunday. "Dear Mrs. Parks" features a series of fictional letters expressing gratitude to Parks for her historic refusal to move to the back of the bus in 1955 in Montgomery, Ala. Tickets range from $19 to $69.

At the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor:

The Soweto Gospel Choir performs at 8 p.m. tomorrow. Tickets are $10 to $36. Jack Dejohnette's Latin Percussion Summit will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $10 to $40. Performances are in Hill Auditorium, 825 North University Ave.

The Takacs Quartet is scheduled at 4 p.m. Saturday in Rackham Auditorium, 915 East Washington St. Tickets range from $28 to $50.

The Kodo Drummers of Japan will perform in the Power Center, 121 Fletcher, at 8 p.m. Monday-Wednesday. Tickets range from $20 to $44.
