Symphony to perform Haydn concert

The Toledo Symphony, under director Edwin Outwater, will present Mozart s Symphony No. 39 and Haydn s Symphony No. 34 at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 15 in the Franciscan Theatre & Conference Center of Lourdes College, 6832 Convent Blvd., Sylvania. Tickets are $32 and $28.

The symphony also opens its chamber music season with a concert featuring Gallay s Quartet for Four Horns, Smetana s Quartet (From My Life), and Beethoven s Cello Sonato No. 3 in A Major. The event is scheduled in at 7 p.m. Oct. 16 in the Toledo Club, 235 14th St. Tickets are $35 and $25. Information: 419-246-8000 or 800-348-1253.

Ohio Northern University presents Billy Sigenfeld s Jump Rhythm Jazz Project with the ONU Dance Company at 8 p.m. Oct. 8 in Biggs Theatre of the Freed Center of the Performing Arts, Ada. Monday Musicale celebrates opens its 2005-06 season with a free concert at 1 p.m. Monday in Epworth United Methodist Church, 3077 Valleyview Dr. Information: 531-4236.

The Plymouth Symphony Orchestra opens its 60th season with a concert featuring works by Dvorak, Korsakov, Ginastera, and Tchaikovsky, as well as Kristen Kuster s Iron Diamond, in honor of Plymouth trains. The concert takes place at 8 p.m. Oct. 8 in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 47650 North Territorial Rd., Plymouth. It will be preceded by a dinner at Station 885 Restaurant, 885 Starkweather, Plymouth, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the concert and dinner are $50. The University of Michigan Musical Society opens its 127th annual Choral Union Series with Richard Strauss opera Daphne, featuring soprano Renee Fleming and the WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne, conducted by Seymon Bychkov, at 8 p.m. Oct. 13 in Hill Auditorium, 825 University Ave., Ann Arbor. The Detroit Symphony Orchestra is spotlighting works by Vivaldi, Rossini, and Mendelssoh, as well as the premiere of Rota s Concerto for Bassoon and Orchestra. The concert is scheduled at 10:45 a.m. and 8 p.m. Oct. 14 and 8 p.m. Oct. 15 in the Max M. Fisher Music Center, 3711 Woodward Ave., Detroit. Tickets range from $19 to $114.
