Mozart, Arriaga featured in Chamber Series

The Blade Chamber Series continues as the Toledo Symphony Orchestra presents a special tribute to Mozart and to Spanish composer Arriaga at 7 p.m. Jan. 22 in The Toledo Club, 235 14th St. Tickets are $25 for table seating, $35 for chairs. Information: 419-246-8000 or 800-348-1253.

University of Toledo pianist Illana Kennell Bowling has been named Ohio's 2005 Nationally Certified Teacher of Music by the Ohio Music Teachers Association.

Bowling Green State University will host the 48th annual Band Music Reading and Directors Clinic at the Moore Musical Arts Center on the Bowling Green campus with various events Jan. 19 -21. There will be a concert by the BGSU Symphonic Band with special guest Jamie Bernstein, daughter of famed conductor and musician Leonard Bernstein, at 8 p.m. Jan. 20. Tickets are $8 and $5 for seniors and students. Also, a free concert by the University Concert Band at 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 21, followed by a free concert by the High School Honors Band at 3:30 p.m. Also in Bryan Recital Hall of the Musical Arts Center, bassoonist Katherine Oliver will present a free BGSU Faculty Arts Series concert at 8 p.m. on Jan. 25. MICHIGAN

The Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the Stoney Creek High School Chorus present "The Music of the 'Star Wars' Saga," at 10:45 a.m. and 8 p.m. Jan. 19, at 8:30 p.m. Jan. 20 and Jan. 21, and 3 p.m. Jan. 22, in Orchestra Hall of the Max M. Fisher Music Center, 3711 Woodward Ave., Detroit. Attendees are encouraged to dress in the full costume of their favorite Star Wars characters. The Tokyo String Quartet returns at 8 p.m. Jan. 21 to the stage of Rackham Auditorium, 915 East Washington St., Ann Arbor, in a concert of chamber music. Tickets range from $20 to $42. Information: 734-764-2538 or 800-221-1229.

The Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra presents "Mozart's 250th Birthday Bash," an all-Mozart concert, at 8 p.m. Jan. 21 in the Michigan Theater, 603 East Liberty St., Ann Arbor,. Tickets range from $10 to $39. Also in the theater, young Wolfgang Amedeus Mozart visits Ann Arbor at 4 p.m. on Jan. 22, as part of his world tour in "Mozart Comes to Ann Arbor!," a family concert featuring actors and the orchestra.
