Although the winter solstice hasn't arrived yet, Masterworks Chorale will present its annual holiday concerts, "In the Bleak Midwinter," at 8 tonight and 4 p.m. tomorrow in Epworth United Methodist Church, 3077 Valleyview Dr.
"We are presenting a concert of pieces that reflect some of the beloved Christmas images from Christina Rossetti's poem, 'In the Bleak Midwinter,'•" says artistic director Donna Tozer Wipfli. She will lead the 44-voice choir in works by Thomas Weelkes, Steven Sametz, Alfred Burt, Leroy Anderson, Alice Parker, and, of course, Gustav Holst, composer of the title work.
Another tradition to be honored will be a Christmas carol sing-along. Tickets are $20 to $25 through the Toledo Symphony, 419-246-8000 or www.toledosymphony.com.
