Toledo officials participating in Haiti fund raiser

WTVG-TV, Channel 13, will broadcast a telethon to aid earthquake victims in Haiti from 5 to 7 tonight.

Volunteers, including U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D., Toledo), Lucas County Commissioner Ben Konop, Mud Hens play-by-play announcer Jason Griffin, and WKKO-FM (99.9) morning personality Harvey Steele, will be answering phones and taking pledges in the Channel 13 studio.

All donations will go to the American Red Cross for relief efforts. You can also donate online at redcross.org.

“Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief” airs from 8 to 10 tonight on the major television networks and many basic-cable channels. The event will feature Jay-Z and Bruce Springsteen, with Haitian native Wyclef Jean as host.
