The Toledo Jazz Orchestra will perform favorites of the swing era at 7 p.m. Aug. 7 during a free concert at the Toledo Zoo Amphitheatre.
The concert, sponsored by The Blade and The Andersons, is an effort to fill the absence on Sunday evenings this summer of the Music Under the Stars concert series, Anne Baker, zoo executive director, said in a statement. The series was put on hiatus by the Toledo Symphony, which cited health problems of longtime series director Sam Szor and declining attendance.
Ms. Baker said the zoo looks forward to working with the symphony for the 2012 concert series.
"In the meantime, we're grateful to the Toledo Jazz Orchestra and The Blade, in partnership with The Andersons, for bringing this free concert to the community," Ms. Baker said in a statement.
