Comedians do a Santa act: They're comin' to town

Ready to trade in some holiday ho-ho-ho's for some side-splitting tee-hee-hee's?

Comedians fixed on filling bellies full of laughter will soon be on stage in Toledo, Perrysburg, and Ann Arbor.

Brian Aldridge's wholesome looks, charm, and vulnerability could be deceiving when he takes the stage at 8 p.m. Thursday at Connxtions Comedy Club in Toledo. The Chicago native's act includes family-friendly topics, but he's known to toss a few expletives into the show.

Open mic night (actually called Wise Ass Wednesday) begins at 8 p.m. Wednesday featuring local comedians hoping to break onto the comedy scene.

Brian Aldridge will perform at 8 p.m. Thursday at Connxtions Comedy Club, 5319 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo. Open mike performances are at 8 p.m. Wednesday. Tickets are $8 for each show. Information: 419-867-9041.

Funny Bone

Funny Bone Comedy Club in Perrysburg will host Toledo native Jon Ueberroth at 7 p.m. Thursday and 8 p.m. Friday.

The writer/comedian now resides in Los Angeles and has appeared on nationally known comedy stages including Zanies and Hollywood Improv.

Comedian Saleem brings his brand of sharp wit to Funny Bone at 7 p.m. Monday and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. The Dayton native has made appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Last Comic Standing, ABC's Sons & Daughters, and Fox's Best Damn Sport Show…Period.

He also has opened for Boyz II Men, Vanessa Williams, and the Temptations, and has appeared with comedy legends Joan Rivers, Jay Leno, Ray Romano, and George Carlin.

Jon Ueberroth will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday and at 8 p.m. Friday at Funny Bone Comedy Club located in Fat Fish Blue Restaurant, 6140 Levis Commons Blvd., Perrysburg. Saleem will perform at 7 p.m. Monday and at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Tickets are $12 for Thursday and $14 for Friday. Tickets for Saleem's performances are $10. Information: 419-931-3474.

Ann Arbor

Keith Ruff, of Detroit, will humor audiences with his clean and clever comedy during three shows Thursday and Friday at Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase.

Ruff draws upon life experiences including growing up with five brothers. In his show, he highlights quirks and observations of his hometown. He's appeared on Night Shift with Kevin Ferguson.

Detroit metropolitan-area comedians will test their comedic skill at 8 p.m. Wednesday during Comedy Jamm.

Keith Ruff will perform at 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 10:30 p.m. Friday at Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase, 314 E. Liberty St., Ann Arbor, Mich. Comedy Jamm performances are at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
