Weekend lineup will please film, comedy fans

Film aficionados have a variety to choose from this weekend at area theaters.
The Invisible War, an investigative documentary about the epidemic of rape in the U.S. military, will be shown at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Maumee Indoor Theatre.
It is an emotional film that won the 2012 Sundance Film Festival Audience Award and follows the story of several young veterans who have suffered crimes as they journey to rebuild their lives.
This showing is part of the The Invisible War campaign to tell survivors of military sexual trauma that they are not alone and to urge people to hold the military accountable for creating just policies to prevent and prosecute rape and sexual violence among soldiers. The screening is sponsored by YWCA H.O.P.E. Center.
Guys and Dolls will be shown Sunday at 2, 4:30, and 7 p.m. at the Maumee Indoor Theatre. This 1955 classic film stars Frank Sinatra, Marlon Brando, Jean Simmons, and Vivian Blaine. The memorable romantic musical was based on the 1950 Broadway musical of the same name that won the Tony Award for Best Musical.
"The Invisible War" will be shown at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Maumee Indoor Theatre, 601 Conant St., Maumee. Suggested donation is $5. "Guys and Dolls" will be shown at 2 p.m., 4:30 p.m., and at 7p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $5. Information: 419-897-8901.

SANDUSKY -- The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel becomes home to an eclectic mix of retirees and opens today at Sandusky State Theatre.
This comedy/drama is based on the 2004 novel These Foolish Things. Seven English seniors are drawn to the hotel by their life situations, its affordability, and the promise of a beautiful life.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show will be an interactive event Friday at Sandusky State.
This 1975 cult classic is a parody of B-movie, science fiction, and horror films. It has a large international following and is known for audience participation.

Looking for laughs? Comedians are performing at venues in Ann Arbor, Toledo, and Perrysburg.
Tom Mabe will discuss everyday annoyances during five performances this weekend at Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase.
Mabe has a large YouTube following and has been featured on radio shows including The Bob & Tom Show and The Drew and Mike Show. He has been appearing throughout the nation for about 15 years entertaining audiences with his bits on pesky telemarketers, family vacations gone wrong, junk email, tales of woe, and silly songs.

In Toledo, comedian Kevin Bozeman brings his high-energy act this weekend to Connxtions Comedy Club. He won the 1999 HBO Comedy Competition, has opened for Aretha Franklin, and has appeared on Comedy Central's Comics Come from Home and Premium Blend. He's known to share his perspective on social and controversial issues, dating, and traveling.

The Texas native resides in California and travels the country performing in comedy clubs. He has performed at the Doghouse Comedy Jam in San Francisco with comedians including Jamie Foxx, Carlos Mencia, Dave Chappel, and Dave Attel.
