University choirs to raise voices at BGSU gospel fest

BLADE STAFF

Gospel choirs from six Ohio universities, along with national recording artists, will come together this weekend for the 10th annual Bowling Green State University Gospel Fest. The two-day event will feature concerts Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 6:30 p.m. in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union Ballroom. On Friday, choirs from across Ohio will perform individually. On Saturday, the workshop choir will perform and singer/songwriters Amante Lacey, Jonathan McReynolds, and K.J. Scriven will close out the show. Tickets available at the door are $15 for two nights or $10 for one night for the general public, and $11 for two nights or $7 for one night for students and BGSU alumni.

See what's behind closed doors at the Manor House at Wildwood Preserve Metropark as small groups explore parts of the historic home that are typically out of sight to the public. Guests can check out the house's attic, maids' quarters, boiler room, and other rooms on the tour, which highlights Toledo's architectural icons. The tour begins at 6 p.m. today and registration is required. Visit metroparkstoledo.com for more information.

Bundle up for a night hike through the woods as Toledo Area Metroparks hosts Night Hike & Fireside Stories. Hikers will trek through woods and meadows where they can observe winter wildlife. After the hike, there will be a marshmallow roast, hot chocolate and the sharing of nature stories. The hike at Oak Openings Preserve begins at 6 p.m. Friday and registration is required. Visit metroparkstoledo.com for more information.

Organizers for the Toledo wiki will host the third ToledoWiki edit party from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday. ToledoWiki is a new Web site about all things Toledo. Anyone can use and edit the site. The event will take place at Seed Coworking, 25 S. St. Clair St. in downtown Toledo. Participants should bring a laptop and power supply. Wifi will be available. For more information, visit toledowiki.net/editparty.
