Grammy Award-winning drummer Peter Erskine will join the Toledo Jazz Orchestra Saturday in its final concert of the season, which will be a tribute to the music of Stan Kenton.
Erskine joined the Stan Kenton Orchestra when he was just 17 in 1972. This his second consecutive year of performing with the Toledo Jazz Orchestra and the concert is called "Erskine Returns for Kenton. It will be at 8 p.m. at the Valentine Theatre, 400 N. Superior St.
Also performing at the concert will be former Kenton trumpeter John Harner. The set list will include "Peanut Vendor," "I Remember You," and "Intermission Riff," along with the classic, "My Funny Valentine." The orchestra also will recreate "Send In The Clowns," which featured a famous solo by Harner.
Tickets to the concert Saturday at 8 p.m. are $22-$32 and are available at thetoledojazzorchestra.org, at the Valentine box office or by calling 419-242-2787.
