Sample ethnic food, culture Saturday at international festival

The Toledo Sister Cities International Festival will be Saturday in the Student Union at the University of Toledo. The cultural celebration will run from noon until 8 p.m. and feature a parade of nations event at noon. Toledo has sister cities in Spain, China, Hungary, Poland, Japan, Tanzania, Germany, Lebanon, Pakistan, India, and Egypt. The festival will feature ethnic food, cultural exhibits, music, and dance performances. World beers will be available, as well as crafts and other goods. Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door. Admission for seniors 65 and older and students with ID is $5. Children 10 and younger are admitted free. Toledo School for the Arts' annual Guitar Fest returns Sunday with guest artists, vendors, master classes, and performances. This year's festival will emphasize the blues and bluegrass and will feature several local bluegrass bands and artists. Kyle White will teach a songwriting workshop, while Dave Borkowski of the band Fossil Creek will conduct a country guitar workshop. Gary Seger will lead a steel guitar course, Calvin Bell will lead a blues workshop, and Lewie Simson, a bass workshop. Guests also can work on demo tapes with Paul Wise of Studio 33. Several vendors will be onsite and refreshments will be available during a reception.
