Area music shops to join worldwide Record Store Day

BLADE STAFF

Music shops around the world are clearing out their vaults and unpacking old treasures in celebration of Record Store Day 2013. Activities are planned at area record shops including in-store performances, meet-and-greets with artists, in-house disc jockeys, and special deals on exclusive and limited-edition merchandise. Participating stores include Allied Record Exchange, 3550 Executive Pkwy., Suite 4 and 1720 S. Reynolds Rd.; Culture Clash Records, 4020 Secor Rd.; RamaLama Records, 3151 W. Central Ave., and Shakin' Street Records, 1503 Adams St. For more information, visit recordstoreday.com or contact the stores.

The Professional Roughstock Series will make its way to the Huntington Center on Saturday at 7 p.m. Broncos and bulls will be matched against several of the sport's best riders. The series consists of three events — bareback riding, bull riding, and saddle bronc riding — with 12 riders competing. The rider with the highest aggregate score will be crowned the Toledo Open champion. Tickets start at $10 for adults and $8 for children 12 and younger. For information call the Huntington Center box office at 419-321-5007 or visit ticketmaster.com.

The second Annual Blissfield Railroad Days festival will be Saturday and Sunday in downtown Blissfield featuring model train displays, toy trains, train ride excursions, and more. "Thomas the Tank Engine" will make a special appearance at the Royal Expressions floral shop. At the Hathaway House, there will be a display of toy trains that are more than 100 years old. The Adrian & Blissfield Rail Road will offer excursion rides and tours of its restored locomotive and caboose. Rides will be offered from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. The Blissfield Model Train Club will host displays and a train show/swap meet all day Sunday at the American Legion Hall. Blissfield Railroad Days runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $5 and are good for all activities for the whole weekend. Tickets can be purchased at the historic Depot at 105 N. Lane St. and at the American Legion Hall at 451 High St. in Blissfield. Commemorative Blissfield Railroad Days T-shirts can be purchased at Stone Hawk Tees, 107 S. Lane St. For more information, visit blissfieldmainstreet.com.
