Organizations offer drop-off sites, ways to donate to Haiti relief

Many organizations in the area have drop-off centers for those who wish to donate material to relief efforts.

They include:

•CedarCreek Church. Senior Pastor Lee Powell announced that the church will collect relief supplies at every service this weekend and Jan. 23 and Jan. 24 at its three campuses. CedarCreek's collection of supplies, in partnership with churches, businesses, and individuals, will be shipped to Haiti through local disaster relief agencies with connections in the country.

More information is available by calling 419-661-8661.

•ISOH/IMPACT. There are various drop-off sites for the relief organization, which is accepting supplies at its warehouse, 905 Farnsworth Rd. in Waterville. Cash donations can be made online at isohimpact.org.

More information is available by calling 419-878-8548.

Other ISOH/IMPACT drop-off sites include The Andersons Inc. stores and any area Tireman Auto Service Center.

•Diversified Insurance Service is accepting donations on behalf of ISOH/IMPACT from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays through Jan. 29 - specifically, donations of health kits and cleaning supplies, but not clothing.

The donations may be dropped off at the firm's locations: 349 Rice St., Elmore; 1700 River St., Suite A, Fremont; 124 East Second St., Port Clinton, and 6727 Providence St., Whitehouse.

After-hours drop-offs may be arranged and more information is available by calling 800-848-2788.

•The Town Center at Levis Commons will be an ISOH/IMPACT donation site this weekend. Donations can be made in front of J.B.'s Sarnie Shoppe from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and from noon to 5 p.m. tomorrow.

•The American Red Cross. Those wishing to donate money may visit the Web site redcross.org; call 1-800-RED-CROSS, or text "Haiti" to 90999 on a mobile phone. The texting option will amount to a $10 donation.

•Owens Community College students are organizing

a supply drive on both campuses from Jan. 19 through Jan. 29.

A variety of items are being collected, and there are multiple drop-off locations at the Toledo-area campus and one at the Findlay-area campus at the College's Commons area. Donations ultimately will be sent to ISOH.

Call 1-800-GO-OWENS, ext. 7583, for more information.
