Local Coast Guard adds faster response boat

Editor's note: This item corrects the cost of the Response Boat-Medium.

The Toledo Coast Guard station has welcomed a faster, more capable response boat to its fleet.

The 45-foot Response Boat-Medium, built by Marinette Marine, has a top speed of more than 40 knots. The new boat employs a forward-looking infrared search technology for advanced search capability. The vessel is able to respond to incidents in shallower water, and it can handle waves up to 12 feet and winds up to 50 knots.
