Children's librarian Kelli Strimbel helps a table full of youngsters make shekeres, a Nigerian percussion instrument, as part of the L.S. Navarre Branch Library program, Musical Instruments from Around the World. At the library, on East Second Street in Monroe, youths made replicas of instruments used in Africa, Brazil, and Mexico.
Branch Librarian Amber Reed helps Daniel Robertson, who is focused on making the right scissors cut.
Jasmine Hutchins puts the finishing touches of her shekeres. Another creative session will be Wednesday.
