Monroe

Winter weather spotter training, Jefferson High School, 5707 Williams Rd., 7-8:30 p.m., Oct. 20. Free to the public. Learn about winter weather safety.

Solar power workshop hosted by the Monroe County Community College's Office of Lifelong Learning, Room 259 of the La-Z-Boy Center, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Oct. 22 and 29. Cost of course is $149. Registration: 734-384-4127.

Monroe County Community College is accepting applicants for accelerated beginning welding courses. Courses are 10 weeks long, and the certifications will qualify students for entry into advanced-level employment, self-employment, and local welding labor unions.
