Bed race to raise funds for needy kids

BLADE STAFF

MONROE — The Bed Race to Aid Children, which features teams pushing a wheeled bed through downtown Monroe, is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sept. 30.

The race is a fund-raiser for the Now I Lay Me Down ministry at First Presbyterian Church. As in past years, the race hub will be in Loranger Square in front of the church.

Three courses will begin at the corner of East First and Washington streets. The entry fee is $200 per team and represents the cost of buying and installing a bed for a child who is without one. Racers must at least be in high school.

Competitors have included businesses, churches, schools, and community organizations. Teams have five members, four of whom push and one who rides on the bed.

Entry forms are available at bedracetoaidchildren.org. For more information email info@bedracetoaidchildren.org or call 734-242-1545.
