Perrysburg council approves funding for Music on the Market

There will be a dozen dates in which musical acts will perform during the Perrysburg Farmers Market's 2013 season.

City Council at its meeting today approved a contract with the Perrysburg Convention and Visitors Bureau to promote and organize Music at the Market.

The vote was 6-0. Councilman John Kevern was absent.

The city will pay $6,000 and the CVB will offer the same amount annually, city administrator Bridgette Kabat said. The contract is for three years with two one-year renewal options.

Perrysburg Arts Council was invited to bid on Music at the Market but did not do so, Ms. Kabat said.

Musical acts and specific performance dates have not yet been chosen.

In other matters, council approved by 6-0 votes:

- Reducing the limit for mercury in the wastewater system to 1.0 milligram per liter, bringing the city's Pollutant Minimization Plan in line with standards required by the Ohio EPA.

- Amending standards for storm water control and management at construction sites that also conform to Ohio EPA guidelines.

- Increasing hourly wages for part-paid volunteer firefighters.

- Transferring a 2007 Ford Crown Victoria to the village of Pemberville. Previously a police cruiser, the vehicle was being used by the city's utilities division and was scheduled for auction as part of the ongoing vehicle replacement plan. Councilman Thomas Mackin said Pemberville did not have a back-up vehicle for its police department and that Perrysburg typically did not get much money from auctioning its vehicles.
