Sauder Village in Archbold opens for the season Tuesday with its first special event of the year: its 35th annual quilt show. The quilts, both utilitarian and works of art, will be on display in Founders Hall through May 1. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Entry to the show is included in the price of the village admission, which is $14.50 for adults and $7.50 for students ages 6-16. A special exhibit-only pass for the quilt show is $10. Toledo Speedway will have a special preseason event this weekend when it presents the VR-12/Easter Bunny 100. On-track action begins Friday with an optional practice session from 3:30 to 7 p.m. The pit area opens at 1 p.m. On Saturday, activities begin with practice at 12:30 p.m., and time trials at 4 p.m. The Easter bunny will make an appearance and an Easter egg hunt and nickel/penny Goldrush for children 12 and younger will take place at 5:30 p.m. The JEG'S/CRA All Star Late Model tour will compete in itsfirst-ever event with a 100-lap feature, with the USA Modifieds also in action. Race time is 6 p.m. Official opening day at the race track will be May 6, featuring the ARCA ACME Dismantling Sportsman, Parts Galore Figure 8's, R & M Recycling Street Stocks and the Jeff's Collision 4 Cylinders. Races on Friday start at 7:30.
Steve Miller and Gregg Allman will co-headline a concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Huntington Center, 500 Jefferson Ave. Both are to play full sets with their bands in the 3 1/2 hour show. Among the Steve Miller Band's hits are "Fly Like an Eagle," "Rock'n Me," and "Abracadabra." Allman wrote such hits as "Whipping Post," "Midnight Rider," and "I'm No Angel." Tickets, priced at $37.50, $47.50, are available from the Huntington Center ticket office and Ticketmaster outlets.
