Johnny Knorr Orchestra to salute U.S. military


The Johnny Knorr Orchestra will present A Tribute to Our Armed Forces from 7:30 to 11 p.m. Friday at Centennial Terrace, 5773 Centennial Rd., Sylvania. The big band will play for the Dancing Under the Stars program from 7 to 10:30 p.m. Tickets are $10. Information: 419-882-1500 or centennialterrace.org.

Also at Centennial Terrace, Sheryl Crow will perform in concert at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Crow's most recent release is last year's "100 Miles From Memphis." She's best known for hits "All I Wanna Do," "If It Makes You Happy," "My Favorite Mistake," and "Soak Up the Sun." Advance tickets are $35.50 for general admission and $60.50 for VIP seating, plus facility fees, from the box office at the Stranahan Theater, 4645 Heatherdowns Blvd.; ticketmaster.com, and by telephone at 800-745-3000. On the day of the show, gate admission will be $40, if general admission seats remain.

Independence Day weekend at Sauder Village in Archbold includes a reading of the Gettysburg Address, special music, old-fashioned games, hand-cranked ice-cream, and a naturalization ceremony to create 58 new citizens of the United States. The ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. Monday on the village green. The village, at 22611 State Rt. 2, will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and Monday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $14.50 for adults and $7.50 for students. On Sunday, children 16 and younger will be admitted free. The Toledo Mud Hens begin a four-game home stand Thursday, and three of the games will be followed by fireworks. They'll face the Columbus Clippers at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, with fireworks following Friday's game. Weekend games against the Indianapolis Indians will be at 7 p.m. Saturday and 6 p.m. Sunday, both followed by fireworks. In addition, fans can stay in their seats at Fifth Third Field Sunday and watch the city's fireworks. The Hens also have lots of promotions scheduled for the home stand, including an all-you-can-eat Liberty Bash Buffet on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets to the game only are $9.
