Toledo Club is throwing a Boys and Girls Clubs benefit

The Toledo Club will host its 23rd Party in the Parking Lot from 6 p.m. to midnight Friday at 235 14th St. Naked Karate Girls, a Las Vegas-style dance/rock show band, will entertain, with the Homewreckers providing the opening act. Epic of Toledo's Runway Rivalry Model Contestants Show will be at 6:30 p.m. Food stations and a cash bar will be available. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door, and proceeds benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Toledo. Information: 419-243-2200.

The Glass City Quilt Commission will host the Kaleidoscope of Quilts XV Show and Competition Friday and Saturday in the Franciscan Theatre and Center of Lourdes College, 6832 Convent Blvd., Sylvania. In addition to a show of more than 200 quilts, there will be miniclasses, lectures, a merchant mall, special displays, and an Iron Quilter competition in which members of three quilt guilds will battle it out Iron Chef-style from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday. Competitors will be given mystery "ingredients" and race to create quilts under pressure. The best of show bed quilt will receive a $500 prize and a kaleidoscope; the wall quilt judged best will earn a $250 prize. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 16. Adult admission is $5 for one day and $8 for a two-day pass. Admission is $2 for ages 5 to 12 and free for children 4 and younger. Information: gcqc.org.

The Flying Tigers Radio Controlled Club of Toledo will have a hands-on event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at its flying field on Geiser Road, north of Airport Highway between Eber and Crissey roads. The event includes flying with the buddy-box training system and food and beverages.

The Homemade Jamz Blues Band of Tupelo, Miss., will perform at 8 p.m. Friday in the Maumee Indoor Theater, 601 Conant St., Maumee, in a benefit for the Autism Society of Northwest Ohio. The band, composed of siblings Ryan, 19; Kyle, 16, and Taya Perry, 12, in 2007 came in 2nd out of 157 acts at the 23rd International Blues Challenge in Memphis. Last year, it won best new artist at the JUS Music Awards and is nominated again this year for best contemporary blues song. Opening will be local blues band Buzz Anderson & Friends. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 and younger from the Autism Society office at 4334 Secor Rd.; Culture Clash Records at 4020 Secor Rd.; Maumee Indoor Theater, or online at asno.org or niteoutproductions.com.
