Foul play is not suspected in the death of a man whose body was found yesterday afternoon in a creek behind a North Toledo neighborhood, authorities said.
The victim was identified as Walter Schurfeld, 41, of 1245 Slater St., police said. There were no obvious signs of injury or foul play, Lt. Rick Reed said. The Lucas County Coroner's office will perform an autopsy today, he said.
The body had been in the water for three to four days when it was found by a man who was spear-fishing in the creek nearby behind some houses on the 1000 block of Gribbin Lane, the lieutenant said.
