Perrysburg man sought as purse-theft suspect

Authorities are looking for a man who is charged with stealing a purse from a woman as she sat outside of an East Toledo pizza shop and who is suspected in several other purse-snatches in the city, Toledo police said.

A warrant was issued for Jeremiah Carney, 26, of Perrysburg. He is charged with robbery in an incident July 11 at Bambino's Pizza, 649 Woodville Rd. A man leaned toward the 53-year-old victim, said he was going to get a job, grabbed her purse, and fled in a vehicle. Her purse was recovered the next day, police said. Police are investigating more than a half-dozen purse-snatchings in parking lots throughout the city. Women loading groceries into their vehicles were the primary targets.
